Consortium FAQs
Is a consortium required for owner-operators?
Yes. All owner-operators are required to join a DOT Consortium otherwise they may face costly penalties and fines from the FMCSA.
How often are random tests conducted?
We are mandated by the FMCSA to perform random pulls throughout the year at a regulated percentage.
What happens if I don't enroll?
You or your business may be subject to costly FMCSA fines ranging from $150 to over $250,000. Common violations regarding drug testing often result from penalties between $1,000 and $17,000 per violation.
What is a Consortium?
A Drug & Alcohol Consortium takes your eligible employees and puts them into a group. At specific intervals, employees are selected randomly to take a drug test. Our consortium does not only apply to DOT regulated companies, but any company who wants to maintain a drug free workplace.
